In English please

Je sais, on est sur un forum francophone… et cela va le rester
Mais plus d’un de nos membres lit en anglais… et un fil entre des centaines (à venir !!) qui parle de livres/publications anglais ne devrait pas être de trop

Il y a quelques mois, mon patron (vous savez, celui qui me laisse lire lors de mes heures de travail et sait donc très bien à quoi je m’intéresse) m’a donné un flyer publicitaire de ce magazine… après un premier aperçu de leur page internet, j’ai commandé le numéro qui était à ce moment d’actualité

J’adore cet aspect du ‘pas d’actualité’, on fait plein de belles et bonnes découvertes (n’en parlant pas de la qualité des textes écrit par des auteurs qui prennent la plume pour en parler de certains auteurs/livres oubliés).

Le seul grand hic – il y a tant de nouvelles pistes de lecture, on ne s’en sort plus !

Mais je jette quand même de temps en temps un œil sur leur site et je vais aussi en commander ici et là un autre numéro… et j’ai surtout prévu de visiter leur librairie lors d’un prochain séjour à Londres

Je pensais aussi que ce fil ou un similaire pourrait servir pour les livres que nous avons lu en anglais et qui ne sont pas encore ou pas du tout traduits en français. Cela arrive. Qu'en pensez vous ? Un fil ici ou peut-être dans les romans anglophones ?

Il faut absolument que je visite cette librairie !

c'est comme tu veux, on peut y ajouter sur ce fil des livres en anglais... ou ouvrir un autre dans la section lit.anglaise, sinon déplacer ce fil dans cette section et n'en garder qu'un seul...

tout à fait, ce que j'aime en plus, les livres dont il parle dans le magazine sont parfois hors impression (puisque pas d'actualité) - mais ils y sont tous dans leur librairie... chouette...

C'est mon rêve : lire en anglais....mais je n'ai jamais osé franchir le pas de peur d'avoir trop de lacunes.

 Votre "sujet" risque de m'y inciter !

Along the cemetery wall of Lapeyrouse
in Port of Spain, Trinidad, he saw this truth:

the painting is in dialect, with its big shoes

I have always admired Auden’s poem “Musée des Beaux Arts” for its acute wisdom that life’s most important moments are often barely noticed by others, if noticed at all. Auden’s poem considers Brueghel’s famous painting The Fall of Icarus, in which Icarus is shown floundering in the sea, following his plummet – his fate unobserved by ploughmen tilling their fields on a nearby shore. “…Everything turns away”, Auden writes, resignedly. Both poem and painting offer their combined visions – rimed with pathos and irony – as an enduring truth of life: the world often doesn’t notice us. This understanding has been a crucial urge for most of what I’ve written in fifty years. Mine has been a life of noticing and being a witness. Most writers’ lives are.
