Other-Wordly
Words both strange and lovely from around the world
Un très joli album qui met en scène quelques mots / expressions d’autres langues.Présentation de l’éditeur
tsundoku: (noun, Japanese) buying books and not reading them; letting books pile up unread on shelves or floors or nightstands tartle: (verb, Scots) to hesitate while introducing or meeting someone because you have forgotten their name hoppipolla: (compound verb, Icelandic) jumping into puddles
Discover these and many other words to surprise, delight and enamor. Terms for the particular grace of mended things, for the urge to peer into other people's windows, for the sunlight that filters through the leaves of trees. Terms for dancing awkwardly but with relish, for hating endings, for the look shared by two people who each wish the other would speak first. An irresistible gift for lovers of words and those lost for words alike.

Frankie's Favorite Food
Et oui, une fois de plus c'est un album parlant de nourriture qui me donne envie d’ouvrir le fil pour l’illustratrice, bien que les deux livres que j’ai lu d’elle ne sont pas traduits pour l’instant. On peut toujours espérer…Présentation de l’éditeur
Frankie has a problem: he has too many favorite foods. He can't bring himself to choose just one to be for the school play, so on the day of the performance, he's still without a costume. His teacher comes up with a delicious idea: what if Frankie becomes the Costume Manager? That way, he can parlay his love of all things culinary into the whole production. From adding some last-minute garnishes to helping the rice and beans into their costumes, Frankie shines backstage until he has a brilliant idea and decides to make his debut on the menu as something that combines his love for all his favorite foods . . .
In this funny and scrumptiously adorable story, readers will delight in the variety of foods represented and the clever performances full of silly word play and sweet camaraderie. In Kelsey Garrity-Riley's author-illustrator debut, she shows the joy of food and revels in celebrating the way food can bring people together and inspire creativity.
Cette aventure autour de Frankie est en tout cas « scrumptious » (délicieux) comme le dit la maison d’édition.
Autant de plats vont faire une petite performance… c’est difficile de n’avoir pas faim en lisant cette histoire.
Mais c’est tout bon et on se régale avec ce jeune garçon… qui va quand même aussi trouver son costume à la fin du livre.
Je vais continuer avec Kelsey Garrity-Riley.
