Becca Stadtlander est une illustratrice et artiste plasticienne indépendante, inspirée par la beauté des objets du quotidien, le confort de son chez-soi et les couleurs et paysages luxuriants de contrées lointaines.

Elle a fréquenté le Maryland Institute College of Art (BFA 2010) et vit et travaille actuellement dans sa ville natale de Covington, dans le Kentucky.

Son travail est présenté sur des articles de papeterie, des produits de décoration intérieure, des publications éditoriales, des livres pour jeunes adultes et des livres pour enfants.

Pour l’instant il n’y a qu’un livre de cette illustratrice disponible en français, je vais donc lui ouvrir son fil dans cette catégorie et profiter de parler brièvement de ce beau ‘treasure hunt’.

Sur 13 doubles pages on va visiter les pièces de cette maison.

L’entrée, la cuisine, la chambre à coucher, la bibliothèque… ainsi on va découvrir tout plein de petits et grands trésors, des informations, des secrets…

C’est réjouissant et imaginatif. J’adore le graphisme de Becca Stadtlander et ainsi cette ‘chasse au trésor’ était une très belle aventure.

Wow ! Quelle femme extraordinaire, je suis subjuguée !

En considérant surtout le temps lors duquel elle a vécu, chapeau bas pour son exploit.

Honte à son père qui l’a empêché jusqu’à l’âge de 40 ans de partir en voyage… qu’est-ce qu’elle aurait pu faire pendant presque 20 ans de plus puisqu’elle a eu l’envie de voir d’autres pays dès un très jeune âge.

Laurie Lawlor raconte cette vie avec beaucoup d’informations et de détails, sans pour autant alourdir son récit.

Quel bel album… grand coup de cœur !

Après une première rencontre avec Frederick Law Olmsted dans A Green Place to Be, The Creation of Central Park par Ashley Yazdani, en voici un autre très bel album qui le met au centre.

Et cette fois-ci on ne va pas seulement parler de la création du Central Park.

Elizabeth Partridge donne plusieurs faits de sa biographie et ben, je dois dire, quel homme prolifique ! Extra !

Cette traversée de l’Amérique (et oui, de New York jusqu’en Californie, on y retrouve les travaux de cet homme à part) est délicieux.

Et comme toujours j’ai beaucoup adoré l’art de Becca Stadlander.

Je voudrais seulement voir plus de ses créations en version française… elle le mériterait.

Après ma lecture de Laissez passer les canards, j’étais prête pour découvrir l’artiste derrière cette histoire.

Robert McCloskey m’a charmé avec son histoire, pas étonnant que je ressors aussi enthousiaste de cet album.

Emma Bland Smith a écrit une belle histoire qui redonne la création de ce fameux livre de McCloskey sublimement.

Et quel dévouement pour son art du côté de l’artiste. Vivre dans un petit studio avec autant de canards… fallait vraiment vouloir percer tous leur mouvements !

J’ai en tout cas passé un sublime moment. Aussi bien avec l’album de McCloskey qu’avec celui-ci.

Et j’adore la dédicace de Becca Stadtlander Wink
